Tourism Awards success once again!

Mon 20th Nov

We're delighted to have been nominated for the Taste of England award for the second time by tourism bosses across the North East.

The annual awards are organised by destination marketing agency Newcastle Gateshead Initiative (NGI) in collaboration with the region’s tourism bodies who work together on projects that benefit the tourism industry across the North East.

We were voted Gold in 2012 but after a huge restoration of several of the buildings within the medieval complex which saw the opening of a Parlour Bar, Tasting Room, Cookery School and refurbishment of the main restaurant, we were delighted to have been honoured again for our commitment to serving the very best local and seasonal produce and top class service.

Andy Hook, owner of Blackfriars, said: “We are delighted to have been nominated for this award for the second time. It’s very much a team effort, as each member of our staff is truly dedicated to making sure that each guest enjoys the Blackfriars' experience. This recognition is the icing on the cake of a very successful year for us – including the successful opening of our Parlour Bar, Tasting Room and Cookery School. We look forward to seeing these areas grow and develop in 2018.”

The team at Blackfriars also opened Hinnies Restaurant in Whitley Bay in February 2016, and most recently Dobson & Parnell in December 2016, which offers refined British and European food on Newcastle’s Quayside.
