Curry comes from the Tamil word ‘kari’ meaning spicy sauce for rice. Ginger, garlic and turmeric have been found to have been combined for a sauce as far back as 4,000 years ago. Today, whether in Asia, India, Africa, The Americas or the Caribbean, it seems the whole world wants to spice-up their food and create their own curry! Now here’s a chance to create your own! We will look at and make dishes that include spices from around the world as well as making two or three curries from countries you may not have realized make curry.

+ Curries of Dishes of South-East Asia: Thai Massaman Curry/Vietnamese Yellow Curry/Malaysian Rendang
+ Alternative Curries: Ethiopian Doro Wat/Japan – Katsu Curry/Indo-Chinese – Gobi Manchurian
+ Rice Preparation: Basmati Rice/Rice Pilau/Jasmine Rice
+ Traditional Breads: Chapatti/Roti/Paratha

WHERE: Blackfriars Cookery School
TIMES: 9.30am to 4.30pm
COST: £160 per person which includes refreshments throughout the day, a communal lunch with wine and coffee in the Cookery School, your own apron and recipes to take home. Places are only confirmed once paid in full and are non-refundable or transferable.
WHAT TO WEAR: Aprons are provided though please arrive in comfortable clothes that you don’t mind getting a bit messy.
