Accessibility at Blackfriars
Welcome to Blackfriars Restaurant, a former Dominican friary dating back to 1239. We serve traditional historic dishes prepared from fresh, local, and seasonal produce, with options for all diets, including adaptable dishes for allergies and dietary needs, as well as vegetarian and vegan selections on every menu.
Our service is relaxed, informal, and friendly while maintaining a high standard of professionalism and attention to detail. We’re dedicated to making Blackfriars as accessible as possible to guests of all abilities. While our Grade I Listed Building and Scheduled Ancient Monument status imposes some restrictions on structural modifications, unfortunately means we are currently unable to offer a fully accessible toilet-we regularly consult with specialists to explore solutions that could improve access without impacting the historical integrity of our space.
Our Meeting Room, Cookery School, King Suite, and Tasting Room are all located on the first floor of the building, which may limit access for some guests with mobility requirements. To help you plan your visit, you can take a virtual preview of Blackfriars via the 360-degree tour available on our website.
In addition to ongoing assessments of physical access adjustments, we’ve partnered with accessibility platform AccessAble, which offers a comprehensive guide with photos to help you plan your visit.
Thank-you for considering Blackfriars—we look forward to welcoming you!
